This spring returns the leg of the baler pickup assembly to its raised position after the mechanism releases a bale. It applies the tension needed to keep the pickup tines clear of the ground during transport and to reset the leg for the next cycle. A fatigued or broken spring allows the leg to sag, which can cause the pickup to drag or fail to lift properly. The spring is manufactured to the original load and free-length specifications so that the pickup geometry and timing are preserved without requiring adjustment.
