This shock absorber dampens vertical movement between the cab and the chassis of the host tractor. It is mounted at the cab suspension points and controls oscillation transmitted from the rear axle and chassis frame. A worn or leaking damper allows excessive cab bounce, which reduces operator comfort and can cause fatigue over long operating periods. This component is manufactured to the original spring rate and damping curve, so it maintains the same ride characteristics as the factory-installed unit. On replacement, inspect the mounting bushings and torque the fasteners to the specification for the cab suspension bracket.
