It generates a pulsed signal that the engine or transmission controller uses for timing and synchronization. A failing sensor produces erratic or absent pulses, which can trigger fault codes, limit engine power, or prevent starting. The sensor is machined to the same thread and probe length as the original assembly, ensuring the correct air gap between the sensor face and the target wheel. On installation, clean the mounting bore and tighten the lock nut to the specified torque.
