This steering-system joint connects the steering cylinder rod to the steering linkage on the host tractor. It transmits linear motion from the cylinder into rotational movement of the steering arm, allowing the operator to change the direction of the front wheels. Wear in the joint's ball socket produces free play at the steering wheel and uneven tire wear. The joint is machined to the same ball-stud and thread tolerances as the original assembly, so no shimming or adapter bushings are required during replacement. On installation, tighten the locknut to the specified torque and secure it with a new cotter pin.
