This hydraulic piston actuates the straw chopper assembly on a harvesting machine. It converts hydraulic pressure into linear motion to engage or disengage the chopper mechanism. A worn or leaking piston causes slow or incomplete chopper engagement, leaving unprocessed straw in the swath. The piston is machined to match the original cylinder bore tolerance, ensuring proper seal contact without bypass leakage. On reinstallation, inspect the cylinder bore for scoring and replace the piston seals.
