This engine oil filter element removes particulate from the engine oil before it reaches the main bearing journals and turbocharger feed. It is the primary component in the full-flow filtration loop, positioned between the oil pump outlet and the engine gallery. A clogged or collapsed element reduces oil flow, leading to low gallery pressure and accelerated bearing wear. As an original-manufacturer part, the filter media density and bypass-valve cracking pressure match the engine's original calibration, so the filter does not restrict flow during cold starts or high-RPM operation. On replacement, pre-fill the element with clean oil and tighten the housing to the specified torque.
