This metal sleeve is installed in the front axle assembly, where it acts as a bearing surface between the axle housing and the rotating shaft or kingpin. It maintains alignment and reduces friction between the moving and stationary components of the steering or suspension system. Wear in this sleeve leads to increased play in the front axle, which causes steering wander and uneven tire wear. The original part is machined to the same internal and external diameters as the factory sleeve, so it seats correctly in the bore without requiring shimming or reaming. On installation, ensure the bore is clean and free of burrs before pressing the sleeve into place.
