It isolates vibration and accommodates slight misalignment between the frame and attached assemblies, reducing metal-to-metal wear at the connection. The bushing is pressed into its housing; on reinstallation, inspect the bore for damage and apply a light lubricant to the outer sleeve to prevent galling. A worn bushing allows excessive frame movement, which can lead to cracking at adjacent weld joints or fastener loosening over time.
