This chain link is a component of the straw-walker drive system on a combine harvester. It transmits motion from the drive sprocket to the walker assembly, which separates grain from the material mat. A worn or elongated link causes timing slip between walker sections, leading to uneven shaking and increased grain loss over the sieves. The link is manufactured to the original geometry so it matches the pitch of the adjacent sprockets without requiring adjustment of the tensioner beyond its normal range.
