This shaft seal fits at the front axle of the host tractor, where it retains lubricant and excludes contaminants from the wheel-end or final-drive housing. It sits between the rotating shaft and the stationary housing, with the sealing lip riding directly on the shaft surface. A worn seal allows lubricant leakage past the lip, which can lead to bearing damage from contamination or fluid loss. The manufacturer machines the sealing lip to the same geometry as the original assembly, so the contact pressure against the shaft matches the design specification. On installation, inspect the shaft surface for grooves or corrosion; a damaged shaft will cause premature seal wear. Lubricate the seal lip before fitting and press the seal squarely into the bore.
