This water pump circulates coolant through the engine block and radiator to maintain operating temperature. It is driven by the engine's accessory belt and mounts directly to the front of the engine housing. The pump impeller moves coolant from the lower radiator hose into the water jacket, where it absorbs heat before returning to the radiator for cooling. A failing pump typically produces a weeping or dripping coolant leak from the shaft seal, followed by bearing noise or shaft play. The original manufacturer's casting and impeller geometry match the engine's coolant flow path, so no flow-rate or pressure adjustments are needed during installation.
