This water pump circulates coolant through the engine block and radiator to maintain operating temperature. It is driven by the engine's accessory belt and mounts directly to the front of the cylinder block. The pump's impeller moves coolant from the lower radiator hose into the engine, where it absorbs heat before returning to the radiator for cooling. A failing pump typically produces a coolant leak from the weep hole or a growling noise from the bearing assembly. As an original-manufacturer component, the pump housing and impeller are machined to match the seal seat and gasket surface of the original assembly, which helps prevent premature seal failure. On installation, clean the mounting surface thoroughly and replace the gasket. Torque the mounting bolts to the specification for the engine block.
