This water pump circulates coolant through the engine block and radiator to maintain operating temperature. It is driven by the engine's accessory belt and mounts directly to the front of the engine housing. The pump impeller moves coolant at a rate matched to the engine's thermal load; a failing pump reduces flow, causing the engine to run hot or overheat under sustained load. This is an original-manufacturer component, machined to the same shaft and bearing tolerances as the pump it replaces, so no shimming or adapter is required during installation. Replace the gasket on the mounting face and torque the fasteners to specification on reinstall.
