This bushing acts as a wear surface for the rotating shaft of the straw chopper assembly inside the forage harvester. It supports the shaft and maintains alignment between the chopper drum and the stationary counter-knife. A worn bushing allows shaft play, which leads to uneven chopping and accelerated wear on the blade edges and the shaft journal. The manufacturer machines this component to the same inner and outer diameter tolerances as the original, so it seats in the housing without requiring shimming or reaming. On installation, ensure the housing bore is clean and free of burrs; lubricate the bushing bore before inserting the shaft.
