This bearing housing supports the shaft that drives the metering components within the seeding assembly. It positions the bearing at the correct distance from the frame to maintain alignment with the drive sprocket and the seed metering disc. Wear in this housing allows shaft play, which causes irregular seed metering and inconsistent row spacing. The housing is machined to the original geometry so the bearing seats fully against the shoulder without shimming. On reinstallation, ensure the retaining bolts are torqued to specification.
