Case IH 10002 – Front Suspension Controller or Electronic Hitch Control (EHR) / Tractor Controller Unit (TCU): Raise solenoid error

The raise solenoid circuit is experiencing an electrical fault—specifically, the solenoid or its circuit is open or shorted to ground. This prevents the system from actuating the valve required to raise the linkage or suspension.

   Visually inspect the raise solenoid on the front suspension valve block or rear remote/hitch valve. Check the wiring harness and connector for corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage.

   Check the main harness routing for pinch points or stretched wires that might cause an open circuit during headland turns, especially between the front and rear halves on articulated tractors.

   Disconnect the raise solenoid connector (e.g., connector C151) and measure resistance across the solenoid pins (cavities 1 and 2). Expected resistance: ~5.1 ohms at -40°C (-40°F), ~6.9 ohms at 25°C (77°F), or ~9.5 ohms at 100°C (212°F).

   If the solenoid tests within specification, check the wiring harness between the solenoid and the control box for continuity and ensure it is not shorted to ground.

   Power down the tractor and turn off the battery disconnect switch

   This prevents electrical spikes.

   Clean the area around the affected valve block

   This prevents dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Disconnect the electrical connector

   Disconnect it from the faulty raise solenoid.

   Repair wiring or remove retaining nut

   If the harness is damaged, repair the wiring. If the solenoid coil itself failed the resistance test, remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid stem.

   Slide the old solenoid coil off

   Slide it off the valve cartridge.

   Install the new solenoid coil assembly

   Install it onto the cartridge and secure it with the retaining nut. (If the cartridge is leaking, replace the backup rings/seals at this time).

   Reconnect the electrical harness

   Power on the tractor, clear the stored fault codes, and perform a system calibration

   (e.g., Front Suspension Calibration or Header/Hitch Calibration) as the system may require recalibration after a valve or solenoid change.
