Case IH 10005 – Front Suspension Controller: Front Suspension Position sensor out of Range Low Error
Issue description
The control module is receiving a voltage or signal from the front axle suspension position sensor (potentiometer) that has dropped below the acceptable minimum threshold. This is typically caused by an open circuit, a short to ground in the sensor's wiring, a failed sensor internally, or a mechanical failure where the sensor linkage has broken or disconnected.

Check the cause
Inspect the front suspension position sensor mounted on the front axle and check the mechanical linkage for bends, breaks, or disconnection
Disconnect the sensor and inspect the wiring harness and connector pins for corrosion, moisture, pushed-out pins, or chafed wires causing a short to ground or open circuit
Using a multimeter, verify the sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and has a good ground
Test the signal wire for continuity back to the suspension controller and ensure it is not shorted to ground
Monitor the live voltage of the front suspension position sensor with a diagnostic tool while manually moving the linkage; if voltage remains stuck low, the sensor is likely dead
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the front suspension if possible, apply the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Ensure the machine is safe to work on before beginning repairs.
Locate the front suspension position sensor on the front axle assembly.
Identify the sensor to be replaced.
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the sensor.
Carefully unplug the wiring harness.
Unbolt the mechanical linkage from the sensor arm, then remove the mounting hardware securing the sensor to the axle bracket.
Remove the faulty sensor from the machine.
Install the replacement position sensor and securely mount it.
Fasten the new sensor to the axle bracket.
Reattach the mechanical linkage, ensuring it moves freely without binding.
Verify the mechanical connection is smooth and secure.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Plug the connector back into the new sensor.
Turn the ignition on and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 10005 fault code.
Clear the error from the controller's memory.
Perform a Front Suspension Calibration.
This is a crucial final step. Replacing the sensor will usually trigger a calibration fault until the system relearns the new sensor's upper and lower limits.
