Case IH 10010 – Suspension Controller (Susp. 10#): Chassis accelerometer - voltage too low (short circuit to ground / open circuit)

The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the chassis accelerometer that falls below the minimum acceptable threshold. The underlying condition is typically a physical break in the wiring (open circuit), a wire chafing against the tractor frame (short to ground), or an internal failure of the accelerometer sensor itself.

   Inspect the front axle suspension harness and the accelerometer extension harness for obvious signs of chafing, pinching, or damage from field debris

   Disconnect the chassis accelerometer (often designated as sensor B-023 in schematics) and check the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent terminals

   With the key ON, probe the sensor connector to verify the presence of the 5V reference signal and a solid ground

   Test the signal wire from the sensor connector back to the Suspension Controller pins to rule out an open circuit or a short to the chassis ground

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground to protect the modules.

   Repair/Replace Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks reveal a broken or shorted wire, repair the damaged section. If the damage is extensive, replace the affected harness section (e.g., the accelerometer extension harness).

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring, 5V reference, and ground all test perfectly, the accelerometer has failed internally. Unbolt the old sensor from the chassis/axle mounting point and install the new sensor.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and clear the inactive 10010 fault code.

   Perform Calibration

   Replacing the sensor or disconnecting the suspension module will almost always trigger Fault Code 10024 (Front suspension not calibrated). You must perform the hydraulic lift and front suspension calibration routines using the tractor's display or a dealer diagnostic tool to restore suspension functionality.
