Case IH 10013 - UCM – Front Suspension Controller (TCU/UCM): Front suspension piston side pressure will not raise error

The hydraulic system is failing to generate or detect the required pressure on the piston side of the front suspension cylinders to raise the axle. If logging a 'short to Vbat', the control module is seeing continuous 12V power on the switch's signal circuit.

   Test the front suspension raise/lower switch on the console for internal continuity (if diagnosing a short to Vbat).

   Inspect the wiring harness from the switch to the control module for chafing, pinched wires, or melted insulation that could cause a short to 12V power.

   Check for loose connectors or bent pins at the TCU/UCM harness.

   Check the 12VM, 12VF1, and 12VF3 voltage supply fuses, as a blown fuse can prevent suspension solenoids from operating (if diagnosing a hydraulic pressure fault).

   Inspect the front suspension control valve block and verify the piston side pressure transducer is reading correctly and not out of range.

   Verify the operation of the front suspension pump and lock valve solenoids, checking for open circuits or shorts to ground.

   Disconnect Power

   Always disconnect the battery before servicing electrical components or the UCM.

   Resolve the Electrical Short

   Remove the armrest or console panel to access the front suspension raise/lower switch. Disconnect the switch and test it with a multimeter. If the switch is internally shorted, replace it. If the switch is good, trace the wiring harness back to the controller. Repair any damaged wires that are shorting to battery voltage.

   Address the Hydraulic Pressure Issue

   Relieve hydraulic pressure from the front suspension system. Locate the suspension control block. If diagnostics point to a faulty pressure transducer on the piston side, unthread the old sensor and install a new one. If the solenoid valve is sticking and failing to route oil to the piston side, remove the solenoid, clean the valve spool, or replace the solenoid cartridge.

   Recalibrate the Suspension

   After replacing parts, the front suspension must be recalibrated. Enter the diagnostic mode using the switches on the instrument cluster. Navigate to the 'RC module, menu H2' and select 'FRONT SUSPENSION'. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the travel range calibration.
