Case IH 10015 – Front Suspension Controller / ATC (Advanced Tractor Control): Front Suspension Lock Valve Solenoid is open circuit or is shorted to ground
Issue description
The controller is detecting an electrical anomaly in the circuit that operates the front suspension lockout feature, indicating either an open circuit (disconnected plug, broken wire, burnt-out coil) or a short to ground.
Applies to these machines
2 machines- Magnum
- Case IH Magnum Series 4 (Models 235, 260, 290, 315, 340, 370)
Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness from the front suspension manifold to the tractor's main harness for pinched wires, chafing against the axle/frame, or stretched wires.
Disconnect the plug at the Front Suspension Lock Valve Solenoid and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.
Using a digital multimeter, measure the resistance (Ohms) across the two pins of the solenoid coil. A reading of 'OL' indicates an internally open coil, while near 0 Ohms indicates an internally shorted coil.
With the solenoid unplugged and battery disconnected, check the continuity of the wires from the solenoid connector back to the suspension controller to isolate a broken wire.
Repair steps
Safety First
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and remove the key. Ensure the front suspension is settled and hydraulic pressure is relieved.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the Front Suspension Lock Valve Solenoid.
Remove the Solenoid Coil
Remove the retaining nut at the top of the solenoid stem. Carefully slide the faulty solenoid coil off the hydraulic valve cartridge. (Note: You usually do not need to remove the hydraulic valve cartridge itself, meaning no hydraulic fluid will be lost).
Install the New Part
Slide the new OEM solenoid coil over the valve stem and tighten the retaining nut to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back into the new solenoid.
Clear and Test
Turn the tractor on, clear the inactive 10015 fault code from the display, and test the front suspension lockout function to verify the repair.
