Case IH 10016 – Front Suspension control module: Front Suspension Enable Switch Error

Issue description

The system is detecting an invalid signal, open circuit, or short circuit originating from the switch that allows the operator to enable or disable the front axle suspension system.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)

Check the cause

  1. Use the tractor's self-diagnosis display to verify if the error code is currently active or just stored in the trouble history.

  2. Inspect the Front Suspension Enable Switch in the cab for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.

  3. Test the switch for proper electrical continuity across its positions.

  4. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the cab switch and the Front Suspension controller. Look for rubbed wires causing a short to ground, a short to power, or an open circuit.

  5. Check the fuses supplying the front suspension system, as related codes in this sequence (10022, 10023, 10024) indicate low 12V supply voltages often caused by blown fuses.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access switch

Access the control console or armrest where the Front Suspension Enable Switch is mounted.

  3. Disconnect harness

Carefully disconnect the electrical harness connector from the back of the switch.

  4. Remove faulty switch

If the switch failed the continuity test, unclip or unscrew the faulty switch from the bezel and remove it.

  5. Install new switch

Install the new OEM Front Suspension Enable Switch into the console.

  6. Reconnect harness

Reconnect the electrical harness to the new switch.

  7. Repair wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring instead of a bad switch, repair the broken wire or replace the affected harness section.

  8. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  9. Clear fault codes

Clear the fault codes using the onboard diagnostic display or a service tool.

  10. Test system

Start the tractor and test the front suspension system to ensure it enables and disables correctly without throwing the code.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Front Suspension Enable Switch (Cab Control Switch)

Exact OEM part numbers vary heavily based on the specific cab and armrest configuration. Look up using the tractor's serial number/PIN.
