Case IH 10017 – Front Suspension (FSUS) Controller or Armrest/Tractor Controller (ATC): Front Suspension Enable Switch Not Available Error

Issue description

This code indicates that the control module cannot detect the Front Suspension Enable Switch on the armrest console, or there is a software error preventing the Front Suspension (FSUS) system from being enabled.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Magnum 235
  • Magnum 260
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 315
  • Magnum 340
  • Magnum 370

Check the cause

  1. Turn the key to the ON position and toggle the Suspended Front Axle switch on the control console to see if the switch light illuminates or the 'Suspended Axle Locked' icon appears.

  2. Disconnect the tractor's battery for a short period to reset the electronic control systems and see if the error clears.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the armrest console switch and the Front Suspension Controller for pinched wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion.

  4. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify that the front suspension is properly configured in the tractor's software and check if there is a software update available.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Switch

Carefully pry up or unscrew the armrest control console panel to access the back of the Front Suspension Enable Switch.

  3. Test the Switch

Use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity when toggled. If the switch fails to close the circuit, it must be replaced.

  4. Repair Wiring

If the switch tests good, trace the wiring harness down the armrest to the main cab harness connection. Repair any broken wires or clean any corroded terminals using electrical contact cleaner.

  5. Replace the Switch

If the switch is faulty, plug the new OEM switch into the harness and snap it back into the console panel.

  6. Software Flash

If the switch and wiring are perfectly fine, the issue is likely a software glitch. A certified Case IH technician will need to reflash the Armrest Controller or FSUS Controller with the latest software using the CNH EST tool.

  7. Recalibrate

After repairs, start the tractor and run the Front Suspension calibration routine via the tractor's diagnostic 'H-Menu' to ensure the system recognizes the switch and the axle raises, lowers, and locks correctly.

Parts you might need
