Case IH 10019 – Front Suspension (FSUS) / ATC (Advanced Tractor Control): Front Suspension rod Side Solenoid over current
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the control module has detected an electrical current draw exceeding the maximum allowable limit on the circuit for the front suspension's rod side solenoid. This condition is typically caused by a short circuit to ground within the wiring harness, an internally shorted solenoid coil, or a failure within the control module itself.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness routing from the front suspension control valve block to the main chassis for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or melted loom that could cause a short to the frame.
Perform a solenoid resistance test: disconnect the electrical connector at the rod side solenoid and measure resistance across the two pins (a healthy coil reads ~3.0 ohms; near zero indicates a dead short).
Perform a harness short-to-ground test: with the solenoid disconnected and key OFF, measure resistance between the harness-side power pin and a good chassis ground. Continuity indicates a shorted harness.
Verify the ATC/FSUS controller: if wiring and solenoid tests pass, the controller may have a damaged internal driver.
Repair steps
Relieve Hydraulic Pressure
Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Lower the front suspension completely or support the front frame securely with heavy-duty jack stands to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the suspended axle cylinders and valve block.
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and switch off the main battery disconnect to prevent accidental shorting during the repair.
Locate the Valve Block
Locate the suspended axle control valve assembly, typically mounted near the front axle. Identify the rod side solenoid.
Remove the Faulty Solenoid
Disconnect the wiring harness from the solenoid. Remove the retaining nut at the top of the solenoid cartridge.
Swap the Coil
Slide the faulty solenoid coil off the cartridge valve stem. (Note: If the cartridge valve itself is leaking or damaged, unthread the entire cartridge, being prepared to catch residual hydraulic fluid, and install a new cartridge).
Install the New Solenoid
Slide the new OEM solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut. Do not overtighten.
Reconnect and Clear Codes
Reconnect the electrical harness. Turn on the battery disconnect and start the tractor. Use the AFS Pro display or a dealer diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 10019 fault code.
Calibrate the Suspension
Perform a front suspension calibration procedure to ensure the controller learns the correct position limits and the axle levels properly.
