Case IH 10024 – Front Suspension Controller: Front suspension not calibrated

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the tractor's suspended front axle (often referred to as the Terraglide or SFA system) has not been calibrated, or its calibration data has been lost or corrupted. The system requires a baseline calibration of its upper and lower travel limits to properly control the ride height and damping.

Check the cause

  1. Check for accompanying fault codes indicating sensor failures (e.g., 141, 145, or 150)

  2. Inspect the position sensor (potentiometer) physical linkage under the front left of the tractor for seizing or breakage

  3. Verify position sensor voltages using a multimeter (must be under 5V, typically between 740mV and 1000mV depending on resting state)

  4. Test nitrogen charge pressure in the front suspension accumulators (should be around 856–899 PSI; overcharged or blown accumulators will cause calibration failure)

  5. Ensure the tractor is completely stationary, as any movement will halt the calibration process with a 'TRCTR MOVING' error

Repair steps

  1. Park the tractor on a hard, level surface. Ensure the transmission is in neutral and the parking brake is engaged.

  2. Start the engine and set the throttle to approximately 1200 RPM.

  3. Install the diagnostic tool (OEM tool #295041) into the black diagnostic connector for the suspension/EDC processor, which is typically located under the EDC panel or right-hand console.

  4. Enter the diagnostic routine by depressing the button on the diagnostic switch until the display on the instrument cluster changes to H1 (Suspended Front Axle Calibration).

  5. The screen will display CAL.

  6. Toggle the front suspension switch on the control console ON and OFF three times to initiate the calibration sequence.

  7. The tractor will automatically raise and lower the front axle to learn the maximum and minimum travel limits. Keep clear of the front axle during this process.

  8. Once the cluster indicates the calibration is saved/complete, turn the key off to store the values.

  9. If the calibration fails, manually relieve the pressure from the valve block solenoids, re-verify your rod/piston pressure readings, and replace any faulty sensors or accumulators before trying again.
