10031

Case IH 10031 – CCM (Chassis Control Module): Piston pressure sensor range high fault

Issue description

The pressure sensor monitoring the piston side of the front axle suspension cylinder is returning a value or voltage that is too high (out of range high).

Applies to these machines

  • LWB (Long Wheel Base) tractors
  • Magnum
  • Puma
  • Optum

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the piston pressure sensor wiring harness for any visible damage, open circuits, or shorts to a voltage source.

  2. Verify the installation and connection of the piston pressure sensor harness, specifically looking at the 3-pin electrical connector for corrosion or pushed pins.

  3. Check the leveling valve wiring harness (often routed near or on the same circuit) for any faults or cross-wiring.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Lower the front suspension completely to relieve hydraulic pressure from the system before removing any sensors.

  2. Wiring Verification

Disconnect the 3-pin connector at the piston pressure sensor. Use a multimeter to verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage and ground, and that the signal wire is not shorted to power.

  3. Replace the Sensor

If the wiring harness tests good, the piston pressure sensor itself has failed internally and must be replaced. Remove the old sensor and install the new one.

  4. Recalibrate the Front Suspension

After replacing the sensor, the front suspension must be recalibrated. Enter the diagnostic mode by navigating the 'H' menus using the switches on the instrument cluster. Navigate to the RC module, select menu H2, and select FRONT SUSPENSION. Press the dimming key to accept the menu selection and follow the prompts to complete the calibration.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Front Suspension Piston Pressure Sensor

Specific OEM part number not published in the available online catalogs; order based on specific tractor serial number.

  • Sensor Electrical Connector (3-Pin Female)

    87695580

Replaces older part # 225295C1. Fitment note: This is the 3-pin pigtail connector used for the 705 Piston Pressure Sensor and 704 Rod Pressure Sensor if the harness side is damaged.
