Case IH 10033 – INST (Instrumentation Controller / Instrument Cluster): Controller Memory Error - Loss of Customer Configuration information

This code is triggered when the controller loses customer-specific settings. Specifically, it is logged once when either the tire radius configuration or the English/Metric display setting is lost or unexpectedly detected. The underlying condition is typically a memory defect within the controller or an intermittent power/ground connection causing the controller to reset and lose its saved parameters.

   Verify Configuration Loss: Check the cab display to see if the English/Metric units have defaulted or if the tire radius/speed calibration is incorrect.

   Inspect Power Connections: Locate connector CN2 on the instrumentation controller and verify it has a solid, continuous connection to the battery.

   Inspect Ground Connections: Verify that the instrumentation controller is properly grounded, as intermittent grounds are a primary cause of memory wipe/reset issues.

   Reconfigure Settings

   Access the instrumentation display menu, set the English/Metric setting back to the proper mode, and input the correct tire radius accordingly.

   Secure Wiring

   Disconnect connector CN2 at the controller. Inspect the pins for corrosion, spread terminals, or moisture. Clean and apply dielectric grease if necessary, then securely reconnect it to ensure a good battery connection.

   Clean the controller's ground terminal connection to the chassis to ensure there is no voltage drop.

   Test Memory Retention

   Cycle the machine's key off and back on. If the fault code returns and the settings are lost again, the controller has suffered an internal memory defect (hardware failure).
