Case IH 10035 – Multi-System (INST, PERF, PTO, ENG): Multi-System Controller Error

Issue description

Fault code 10035 is a multi-system code that means different things depending on which Control Module/ECU logs it. INST: Controller Memory Error - Loss of Valid Radar Configuration Information. PERF: Controller Memory Error - Loss of valid fuel table information. PTO: Controller Failure (ADC lock-up). ENG: Fuel Temperature Sensor - Signal Below Range Minimum.

Applies to these machines

  • Case IH Magnum Series Tractors (MX series, 215, 275, 305, and TG series)

Check the cause

  1. System Voltage Check: Test the battery voltage. It must be a steady 12–14 volts. Low voltage or a failing alternator (outputting below 14V) can cause memory loss or ADC lock-ups in the controllers.

  2. Wiring & Ground Check: Verify that the affected controller has a clean, secure connection to the battery and is properly grounded. For the INST controller, check connector CN2 (specifically pin 2 for power and pin 4 for ground). For the PERF controller, check connector C062.

  3. Software Version Check (PERF only): Check if the performance monitor software was recently updated (e.g., from version 1.0.0.0 to 1.1.0.0) without a new fuel table being loaded.

Repair steps

  1. Verify power and ground

If the code is INST 10035 (Radar Configuration Loss): Verify power and ground to the instrumentation controller.

  2. Perform Radar Calibration

Perform a Radar Calibration procedure exactly as outlined in the tractor's Operator's Manual.

  3. Clear fault code

Clear the fault code using the display or an approved diagnostic tool.

  4. Restart tractor

Shut down the tractor, wait for the modules to power down, and restart.

  5. Replace Instrumentation Controller

If the fault code returns immediately, the controller's internal memory is defective and the Instrumentation Controller must be replaced.

  6. Connect EST

If the code is PERF 10035 (Fuel Table Loss): Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

  7. Load fuel table

Navigate to the fuel update screen and load the new/correct fuel table into the performance monitor.

  8. Clear code and restart

Clear the fault code, shut down the tractor, and restart.

  9. Replace Performance Monitor Controller

If the code persists, replace the Performance Monitor Controller.

  10. Hard reset

If the code is PTO 10035 (Controller Lock-up): Shut down the tractor to attempt a hard reset of the controller.

  11. Recalibrate PTO controller

Restart and attempt to recalibrate the PTO controller.

  12. Replace PTO controller

If the code returns after calibration, the PTO controller is internally shorted/locked and must be replaced.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Instrumentation Controller (Display Cluster)

Fitment: Case IH Magnum / MX Series. Required if INST 10035 returns after radar calibration.

  • Performance Monitor Controller

Fitment: Case IH Magnum / AFS Displays. Required if PERF 10035 returns after EST fuel table flash.

  • PTO Controller Module

Fitment: Case IH Magnum. Required if PTO 10035 returns after recalibration.

  • Fuel Temperature Sensor

Fitment: IVECO/FPT NEF F4 Engines. Required if ENG 10035 FMI 1 is present and harness tests good.
