Case IH 10037 – INST / ICU / INST2: Controller Memory Error - Loss of Valid Implement Width information

Fault code 10037 indicates a Controller Memory Error where the Instrument Cluster Unit (ICU) has lost the stored memory parameters regarding the width of the attached implement. This loss of valid implement width information disrupts accurate performance monitoring and automated field mapping.

   System Voltage Check: Verify that the 5-volt sensor network is not dipping below the minimum range, as low system voltage is the most frequent cause of stored memory faults and CAN communication errors.

   Wiring and Harness Inspection: Inspect the CAN bus connectors and the wiring harness under the cab for rubbing, moisture, or aging connectors, as temporary loss of bus communication can trigger memory errors in the ICU.

   Battery and Ground Check: Ensure the battery voltage is stable and check the ICU clean ground connections.

   Clear and Reset

   Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic service tool and cycle the tractor's power to see if the code is a hard fault or a temporary voltage-induced glitch.

   Reprogram the Controller

   If the code persists and the wiring/voltage checks pass, connect the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and re-flash or update the software on the Instrument Cluster Unit.

   Re-enter Implement Data

   After reprogramming, manually re-enter the implement width configuration through the display monitor.

   Replace the ICU

   If the controller fails to accept the programming or the memory chip has suffered a permanent hardware failure, the Instrument Cluster Unit (ICU) must be replaced or sent out for remanufacture/repair.
