Case IH 10037 – MTA CCM / INST / ICU: Lockout button stuck / Controller Memory Error
Issue description
The system is reading a continuous closed circuit from the lockout switch for an extended period (over 60 seconds), or the switch was pressed more than 3 times rapidly to initiate a calibration and became physically or electrically stuck. Alternatively, the Instrument Cluster Unit has lost its saved implement width calibration data.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Case IH Magnum Series
- Case IH Puma Series
- Case IH Maxxum Series
- Case IH Steiger Series
Check the cause
Check the physical condition of the lockout switch (e.g., the suspension lockout button on the armrest/console or the 4th range lockout switch on the right-hand side of the transmission). Ensure it is not jammed by dirt, debris, or sticky residue.
Turn the key ON and navigate to the tractor's diagnostic/H-menu. Monitor the switch state. If the display reads the switch as continuously 'ON' or the 'Suspended Axle Locked' icon on the corner post display is permanently illuminated (or flashing erratically), the switch is stuck closed.
On models like the Maxxum, check the relays on the right-hand side of the instrument panel. It is common for these to vibrate loose from their sockets, causing lockout faults.
Disconnect the switch and test it with a multimeter for continuity. A normally open switch should read infinite resistance when not pressed. If it reads continuity without being pressed, the switch has failed internally.
If the switch tests fine, check the wiring harness pigtail for a short-to-ground or melted wires that could be bypassing the switch and sending a false 'pressed' signal to the CCM.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and engage the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Access the Switch
For Cab/Armrest Lockout Buttons: Carefully pry the bezel surrounding the switch on the armrest console using a plastic trim tool. For Transmission Lockout Switches: Locate the switch on the right-hand side of the transmission housing.
Clean and Inspect
If the button is simply sticking due to spilled liquids or dust, spray electrical contact cleaner into the housing and actuate the button repeatedly to free it.
Replace the Switch
If the switch failed the multimeter test, disconnect the wiring harness connector. Unscrew the switch from the transmission housing (have a catch pan ready for minor fluid weeping) or unclip it from the cab console. Install the new switch.
Reassemble and Reconnect
Plug the wiring harness back in, ensuring the connector clicks securely. Reinstall any trim panels. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Turn the key to the ON position. Enter the diagnostic menu and clear the 10037 fault code. Test the switch by pressing it normally; verify that the corresponding icon on the corner post display toggles on and off correctly.
