Case IH 10059 – CCM (Chassis Control Module) or TCU (Transmission Control Unit): Rod lockout solenoid short to VBatt
Issue description
The controller is detecting unexpected battery voltage (12V) on the circuit for the front suspension's upper (rod-side) lockout solenoid. This indicates a short circuit to a power source in the wiring harness or an internal short within the solenoid coil itself. When this occurs, the front axle suspension system cannot properly lock or unlock, resulting in a rigid ride or failure to level.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the Upper Lockout Solenoid (Y005 or Valve 30) for pinched wires or insulation rubbed bare against the chassis.
Disconnect the solenoid (Connector X508) and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bridging.
Using a multimeter, test the power and return wires (e.g., wires 3280 and 3281) between the solenoid connector and the CCM for continuity and shorts to a 12V source.
Measure the resistance across the pins of the solenoid coil. If the resistance is nearly 0 ohms, the coil is internally shorted and must be replaced.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Lower the front suspension completely to the ground or support the front of the tractor securely with heavy-duty jack stands. CRITICAL: Turn off the engine and ensure all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the suspension accumulators and circuits before proceeding.
Locate the Valve
Identify the Upper (Rod-side) Lockout Solenoid on the suspension manifold block.
Remove the Solenoid Coil
Disconnect the electrical harness. Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid stem and slide the electromagnetic coil off the valve cartridge. (If only the coil is shorted, you do not need to open the hydraulic system).
Replace the Cartridge (If necessary)
If the mechanical valve is stuck or leaking, use a wrench to unthread the valve cartridge from the manifold block. Lubricate the O-rings on the new cartridge with clean hydraulic fluid and thread it into the block, torquing to OEM specifications.
Install the New Coil
Slide the new solenoid coil over the stem, install the retaining nut, and reconnect the electrical harness.
Calibrate
Turn the key ON and use the tractor's diagnostic display (H Menu) or an electronic service tool to clear the 10059 fault code. Start the tractor and perform a front suspension calibration procedure to ensure the CCM recognizes the new valve and restores full suspension travel.
