Case IH 1006 – Armrest Controller: Slip control potentiometer - signal too low (or very low voltage)
Issue description
This fault code indicates that the control module is receiving a voltage signal from the slip control potentiometer that has fallen below the minimum acceptable threshold. This condition is typically caused by an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, a disconnected plug, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Remove the right-hand console/armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness and connector at the slip control potentiometer. Look for disconnected pins, corrosion, or chafed wires.
Voltage Test: With the key ON, check the connector for the proper 5V reference voltage and a good ground supply coming from the Armrest Controller.
Continuity/Short Test: Test the signal wire between the potentiometer and the Armrest Controller for an open circuit or a short to ground.
Component Test: Using a multimeter, measure the resistance sweep of the potentiometer as you turn the dial. If the reading drops out to an open circuit (dead spots) or shows no resistance change, the potentiometer has failed internally.

Remove the retaining screws and lift the cover plate of the right-hand control console or Multicontroller armrest to access the underside of the hitch control panel.

Remove the retaining nut (typically a 3/8-32 nut) securing the potentiometer to the console plate and pull the component out from below.

Insert the new OEM potentiometer, secure it with the retaining nut, and press the control knob back onto the shaft.
