Case IH 1008 – Hitch Controller / Electronic Draft Control (EDC) or Armrest Controller Module (ACM) / Central Controller (XCM): Raise / work switch failure (command arm)

The electronic control system has detected an invalid signal, an open circuit, or a short-to-ground originating from the fast raise/work switch located on the tractor's command arm (armrest). When this code is active, the electronic draft control (EDC) or hitch system will typically disable itself to prevent uncommanded movement of the implement.

   Display/H-Menu Diagnostic Test: Enter the tractor's diagnostic or calibration menu (e.g., H-Menu on MXM/Puma models or via the Pro 700 display). Navigate to the switch input channels. Move the fast raise/work switch between the 'raise' and 'work' positions and verify if the display registers the state change.

   Harness Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness connecting the command arm switch to the Armrest Controller Module (ACM). Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses inside the armrest pivot point, or loose connector pins.

   Continuity Test: Disconnect the switch and use a digital multimeter to test for internal continuity when the switch is toggled.

   Solenoid Ground Check: Check the wiring at the rear hitch raise solenoid valve to ensure the low-side driver wire is not rubbed bare and touching the tractor chassis.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the retaining screws on the command arm/armrest console cover to access the underside of the switch panel.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Unplug the electrical connector from the raise/work switch. Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up and out of the command arm bezel.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a short or break in the harness (especially where the harness routes through the armrest pivot), cut out the damaged wire section, solder in a new wire, and seal it with heat-shrink tubing.

   Install the New Switch

   Snap the new OEM raise/work switch into the command arm console and reconnect the electrical harness plug.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall the command arm console cover and secure the screws.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Reconnect the battery and turn the key on. Clear the stored 1008 fault code from the tractor's diagnostic menu. Test the hitch system by toggling the switch to ensure the rear arms raise and lower properly.
