Case IH 10090 – Armrest Controller (ARM) or Hitch Controller: Controller failure - 5 volt regulator has failed

The internal +5V voltage regulator inside the control module is out of range or has completely failed. This internal regulator is responsible for stepping down the tractor's battery voltage to the 5 volts required to power the module's internal logic boards and provide reference voltage to external potentiometers.

   Check Battery Voltage: Ensure the base voltage supplied to the tractor is stable and within normal operating parameters.

   Check Alternator Regulator Output: Test the charging voltage at various RPMs. An overcharging alternator can send excessive voltage to the controller, frying the internal 5V regulator.

   Verify Power and Ground: Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the Armrest/Hitch controller to ensure it is receiving clean power and a solid ground. Monitor using 'TRANS BATTERY VOLTAGE' or 'BATT' in the display.

   Disconnect Battery

   Always disconnect battery power before removing electronic control units.

   Remove the Faulty Controller

   Carefully unplug the wiring harnesses from the Armrest or Hitch controller and unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.

   Install the Replacement Module

   Mount the new or remanufactured controller and securely reconnect the harnesses.

   Flash Software / Calibrate

   A newly installed Armrest or Hitch controller will require a dealer technician to install the latest software updates.

   Run Calibrations

   You must run the remote valve calibrations and hitch calibrations (Drop Rate, Position Command, etc.) via the Pro 700 display or dealer service tool so the new controller can learn the potentiometer limits.
