Case IH 1014 - UCM – UCM: Right-hand load sensing pin - signal too low
Issue description
The voltage returning from the right-hand load sensing pin (draft pin) to the controller has dropped below the acceptable minimum threshold. This typically points to an open circuit, a broken wire, a short to ground, or a completely failed internal sensor.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the right-hand lower link draft pin for physical damage, corrosion, or pulled wires (common due to debris near the hitch).
Disconnect the sensor and use a multimeter to verify the 8V reference voltage and ground at the tractor-side connector.
Check the signal wire for continuity back to the UCM/EDC controller and ensure it is not shorted to the frame (ground).
Perform a swap test: If the left and right load sensing pins are identical, swap their connections. If the fault code changes from 1014 to 1016 (Left-hand signal too low), the pin itself is internally defective. If the code remains 1014, the issue is in the tractor's wiring harness.
Repair steps
Relieve hitch tension
Park the tractor on a level surface and lower the 3-point hitch completely to relieve all tension and weight on the lower link arms.
Disconnect power
Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery.
Disconnect harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the right-hand load sensing pin.
Remove hardware
Remove the retaining hardware (snap rings, locking bolts, or keeper plates) securing the draft pin to the hitch assembly.
Remove old pin
Drive the old pin out. (Note: It may require penetrating oil or a brass punch if it has seized in the bore).
Install new pin
Clean the bore thoroughly. Install the new load sensing pin, ensuring the alignment notch/flat is oriented exactly as specified in the service manual (orientation is critical for accurate load measuring).
Reassemble
Reinstall the retaining hardware and reconnect the electrical harness.
Calibrate hitch
Power on the tractor, clear the fault codes, and perform a hydraulic lift/draft autocalibration (Code 1024 will often trigger, prompting you to perform this calibration after hitch sensor replacement).
Bypass Option - Disconnect harnesses
If installing a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit (for drawbar-only work): Disconnect the harnesses from both the left and right draft pins.
Bypass Option - Install modules
Plug the elimination modules directly into the tractor's wiring harness.
Bypass Option - Secure modules
Zip-tie the modules securely out of the way. These modules send a fixed 'dummy' signal to the UCM, permanently disabling the draft sensing function and preventing the 1014 code from returning.
