Case IH 1015 – XCM (Multi-function Control Module): Right-hand load sensing pin - signal too high
Issue description
The voltage signal returning from the right-hand draft/load sensing pin on the rear hitch is exceeding the expected parameters. This is typically caused by a short to +12 Volts in the sensor's circuit or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the right-hand load sensing pin on the lower link of the rear 3-point hitch, including the wiring harness and connector for physical damage, moisture, or corrosion.
Use a multimeter to check the signal wire at the sensor connector for a short to +12V.
Verify that the sensor is receiving its proper 8V reference voltage (a faulty 8V reference often triggers companion codes 1019 or 1020).
Disconnect the sensor to isolate the harness. If the signal voltage on the harness side drops to normal baseline levels, the sensor is internally shorted. If it remains too high, the wiring harness is shorted to a power source.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If a short to +12V is found in the harness during diagnostics, trace the harness back toward the XCM and repair the damaged wire.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring is intact, the right-hand load sensing pin has failed internally. Support the lower draft link, remove the retaining hardware, and slide the old pin out. Install the new load sensing pin and reconnect the harness.
Alternative Bypass (Elimination Kit)
Install a Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit by plugging a dummy module into the harness, which feeds a fixed, normal signal back to the XCM, permanently disabling draft sensing and preventing the code.
Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration
After replacing the sensor or installing a bypass kit, you must perform the Hydraulic Lift Autocalibration. The system will often throw companion code 1024 until this is done.
Clear Codes
Access the H8 menu in the controller to clear all stored EEPROM error codes and finalize the repair.
