Case IH 1016 – Armrest Controller / Hitch/Draft Control Module: L/H load sensing pin - signal too low

The voltage signal returning from the left-hand draft/load sensing pin to the controller has dropped below the acceptable threshold. This typically indicates an open circuit, a short to ground in the wiring harness, or an internal failure of the load sensing pin itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the left-hand lower link draft sensing pin for physical damage, chafing, or broken wires.

   Disconnect the L/H load sensing pin connector and check for corrosion, moisture, or bent pins.

   Measure the reference voltage at the connector (typically an 8V reference).

   Swap the left and right load sensing pins. If the fault code changes from 1016 (L/H low) to the R/H equivalent (Code 1014/1015), the pin itself is faulty. If the code remains 1016, the issue is in the wiring harness or the controller.

   Preparation

   Power down the tractor, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the battery.

   Locate the Pin

   Locate the left-hand draft load sensing pin, which secures the lower link of the rear 3-point hitch.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty pin.

   Removal

   Remove the retaining hardware (usually a locking bolt, retaining plate, or snap ring) securing the draft pin to the hitch linkage. Support the lower link arm to relieve pressure, and slide the faulty load sensing pin out.

   Installation

   Clean the bore and install the new OEM load sensing pin (or plug in the Draft Load Sensing Pin Elimination Kit directly into the harness).

   Reassembly

   Reinstall the retaining hardware and reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery and start the tractor. You will likely need to clear the fault codes and perform a Hydraulic Lift Auto-Calibration.
