Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the physical connection at both draft load sensing pins on the lower link arms of the 3-point hitch to ensure they haven't been snagged by debris or unplugged.

  2. Trace the wiring harness from the pins up to the triangular electrical connectors located under the rear of the cab. Look for chafed wires, broken lines, or heavy corrosion inside the connectors.

  3. If the wiring is intact, test the internal sensors of the pins, as they have likely failed (a common failure on these models).

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Option A (Full OEM Repair): Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

  2. Unplug connectors

Unplug the triangular electrical connectors for the draft pins under the rear of the cab.

  3. Remove hardware

Remove the retaining hardware securing the failed draft pins to the lower link arms.

  4. Install new pins

Drive out the old pins and install the new OEM draft sensing pins.

  5. Route wiring

Route the new wiring safely away from pinch points and reconnect to the cab harness.

  6. Clear codes and calibrate

Clear the fault codes and perform a hydraulic lift calibration if required by the service manual.

  7. Locate connectors

Option B (Pin Elimination Bypass): Locate the triangular electrical connectors for the draft pins under the rear of the cab.

  8. Unplug defective pins

Unplug both defective draft pins from the main harness.

  9. Plug in elimination modules

Plug the two Electronic Load Sensing Elimination Modules directly into the tractor's harness.

  10. Secure modules

Secure the modules and excess wiring with zip ties.

  11. Verify repair

The diagnostic system will no longer look for the pins, the 1018 code will clear, and standard hitch functions will resume.
