Case IH 1022 – Hitch Controller (CCH / Armrest Controller / TMF): Single draft pin sensor failed when configured for one draft pin sensor.(CCH Only)
Issue description
This code indicates a failure in the Electronic Draft Control (EDC) system's draft pin sensor circuit. The system is detecting that the signal from the single configured draft pin sensor is either missing, out of range (too high/too low), or shorted.
Applies to these machines
12 machines- Magnum
- Magnum 235-340 (Series 4)
- Magnum MX/TG Series
- Magnum 7200 series
- Magnum 8950
- Puma 165
- Puma 180
- Puma 195
- Puma 210
- Farmall 95U
- Farmall 105U
- Farmall 115U Pro EP
Check the cause
Check the upper limit calibration, as a failed calibration can cause the hitch to continuously try to raise and throw draft/position codes. Warning: Do not let the hitch remain all the way up on demand for very long, or the hitch top cover may break.
Visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the draft pin sensor for chafing, breaks, or corrosion at the connector.
Perform a multimeter pinout test on the harness connector (key ON, engine OFF): Pin A for ground continuity, Pin B for signal shorts, and Pin C for 8V reference power.
If the harness has good ground, proper reference voltage, and continuity on the signal wire, the draft pin sensor has failed internally.
Repair steps
Lower the Hitch
Ensure the 3-point hitch is fully lowered to the ground to remove all mechanical tension and load from the lower link arms.
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Disconnect the Sensor
Unplug the 3-pin electrical connector from the faulty draft pin sensor.
Remove the Draft Pin
Remove the retaining bolt/hardware that secures the draft pin to the tractor chassis and lower link arm. Slide the heavy draft pin assembly out of the housing.
Install the New Sensor
Lubricate the new draft pin sensor as per OEM spec and slide it into position. Secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect
Plug the 3-pin wiring harness back into the new sensor.
Recalibrate the Hitch
This step is mandatory. Once the new sensor is installed, you must perform a hitch calibration via the tractor's armrest display/instrumentation controller so the CCH learns the new sensor's zero-load baseline and upper/lower limits.
