Case IH 1023 – ATC (Armrest Tractor Controller), CCH (Central Controller Hitch), or EDC (Electronic Draft Control): Command arm / EDC control panel is disconnected

The Command arm / EDC (Electronic Draft Control) control panel is disconnected or has lost communication with the tractor's network. On certain high-horsepower models equipped with a Central Controller Hitch (CCH), this can alternatively mean two draft pin sensors failed when configured for two draft pins.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the command arm / EDC control panel to the main cab/chassis harness for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs

   Disconnect the command arm harness and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals

   Use a multimeter to verify that the control panel is receiving a proper ground signal (a related code, 1030, often flags an open ground circuit)

   If the tractor utilizes a CCH module configured for two draft pins (CCH models only), test the voltage and resistance of both draft pin sensors to ensure they have not failed

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Harness

   Remove the necessary interior cab trim panels to access the base of the command arm and the EDC control panel wiring connections.

   Repair/Replace Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or damaged connector, repair the wiring using OEM-approved splice kits, or replace the damaged harness section.

   Replace the Control Panel

   If the wiring and ground tests pass but the module still reads as disconnected, the internal circuitry of the command arm control panel has likely failed. Unbolt the command arm assembly, disconnect the main plug, and install the replacement unit.

   Reassemble and Power Up

   Reconnect all harnesses, reinstall the cab trim, and reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Turn the key on and clear the fault codes. You must perform the hydraulic lift calibration procedure (fault code 1024) via the tractor's display monitor or diagnostic tool to restore full hitch functionality.
