Case IH 1024 - UCM – UCM: Perform the hydraulic lift calibration
Issue description
The tractor's control module has lost the calibration values for the rear hydraulic lift (hitch) system. This typically happens if the battery was disconnected, the module's EEPROM memory was wiped/reset, or if a related hydraulic or sensor component was recently replaced.
Applies to these machines
6 machines- VESTRUM CVX
- Puma Series
- Magnum Series
- Steiger Series
- Farmall Series
- Maxxum / MXM / MX / TG Series
Check the cause
Check for active fault codes 1025 or 1026 (Position control potentiometer error - voltage too low/high)
Check for active fault codes 1027 or 1028 (Lift arm position sensor error - voltage too low/high)
Check for active fault code 1029 (Hydraulic control valve disconnected)
Check for active fault code 1031 (Chassis harness disconnected)
Check for active fault codes 1032 or 1033 (Draft control potentiometer error - voltage too low/high)
Check for active fault codes 1063 through 1066 (Hydraulic valve raise/lower solenoid errors - open or short circuit)
Repair any wiring, sensor, or solenoid issues related to the above codes before attempting calibration
Repair steps
Prepare the Tractor
Ensure the tractor is parked on a level surface with the engine running. The hydraulic fluid should be brought up to normal operating temperature. Ensure the rear hitch area is clear of personnel and equipment.
Enter Calibration Mode
Access the tractor's calibration menu (this varies by display type, but often involves holding the 'dimming' or menu buttons to enter the 'Cal' screen).
Clear Old Data (If Necessary)
If the system is locked, you may need to access the controller menu (e.g., the 'H8' menu on some models) to clear stored calibration values and reset the EEPROM values back to default.
Run the Lift Calibration
Select the hydraulic lift calibration procedure. You will be prompted to use the position control levers/buttons to move the lift arms to their fully raised and fully lowered positions.
Save and Exit
Once the module registers the upper and lower limits, the display will indicate a successful calibration. Turn the key off for at least 3 seconds to store the new values in the UCM memory.
Verify
Restart the tractor and verify that code 1024 has moved to an inactive state and the rear hitch operates smoothly.
