Case IH 1025 – Armrest Controller (ARM): Hitch Up/Down Momentary Switch Failure

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the base of the hitch up/down switch inside the armrest for loose pins, chafed wires, or corrosion.

  2. Using a multimeter, test the switch itself. Disconnect the switch and check for continuity across the terminals when the switch is pressed into the 'UP' and 'DOWN' positions. If the switch reads open (no continuity) when pressed, or is shorted internally, the switch is bad.

  3. Verify that the armrest controller is receiving proper voltage (typically a 2.5V reference on the CAN bus lines) and that the green LED indicator on the armrest control board is flashing normally, indicating healthy module communication.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove the retaining screws on the right-hand armrest console cover to access the internal switch panel and wiring.

  3. Disconnect

Locate the faulty Hitch Up/Down switch and carefully unplug its electrical connector.

  4. Remove

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it up and out of the armrest bezel.

  5. Install

Snap the new OEM replacement switch into the armrest bezel until it clicks securely into place.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness connector back into the new switch.

  7. Reassemble

Reinstall the armrest console cover and secure the screws.

  8. Clear Codes & Test

Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use the tractor's diagnostic display to clear the 1025 fault code. Test the rear hitch functionality to ensure the code does not return and the hitch raises/lowers correctly.
