Case IH 1025 – EDC (Electronic Draft Control) module, CCU (Central Control Unit), or Hitch Electronic Control Panel: Position control potentiometer - signal too low
Issue description
The system uses this potentiometer to monitor the operator's desired hitch position setting. The controller attempts to match the physical hitch position sensor reading to the desired setting from this position control potentiometer. When the signal voltage drops below the acceptable threshold, the system registers a fault and will often default the hitch system to a halt condition for safety.

Check the cause
Ensure the hitch is free to move all the way between the cylinder's minimum and maximum limits with no load, and verify there is no mechanical interference.
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors (e.g., Connector X-326 on Farmall models) for a short to ground or an open circuit.
Check the voltage of the position control potentiometer (e.g., on Magnum models, it must be exactly 4.85 ± 0.1 volts DC when the position control lever is at its maximum height).
Check for loose position lever and rockshaft potentiometer shaft set screws, as these will affect hitch performance and cause erratic readings.
Repair steps
Access the Potentiometer
Locate the position control potentiometer, which is typically mounted on the control armrest, side console, or directly linked to the draft control linkage depending on the model.
Test the Circuit
Using a multimeter, test the reference voltage coming from the ECU to the potentiometer, and test the signal return wire for continuity to ensure the harness is not damaged.
Replace if Faulty
If the wiring is intact but the potentiometer fails to output the correct variable resistance/voltage (or has dead spots), remove the mounting hardware and disconnect the 3-pin connector to remove the faulty potentiometer. Install the new part.
Adjust Voltage
If applicable to your model, manually adjust the new potentiometer so that it outputs the specified voltage (e.g., 4.85V DC) when the lever is at maximum height.
Perform Autocalibration
After replacing the potentiometer or repairing the wiring, you must perform the hydraulic lift autocalibration procedure.
