Case IH 1030 – HITCH Controller (CCH): Right draft pin voltage is outside the normal operating range. (CCH Only)
Issue description
The draft pins act as load sensors for the tractor's rear hitch draft control system. This code is triggered when the voltage signal returning from the right-side draft pin falls outside the expected parameters. This typically indicates a potentiometer failure, an open circuit, a break in the ground circuit, or a short to the 5-volt reference/12-volt power.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the right lower hitch draft pin for chafing, breaks, or pinched wires.
Disconnect the right draft pin sensor and check for moisture, dirt, or corroded pins inside the connector.
Test the ground circuit and the 5-volt reference circuit at the connector. Code 1030 is heavily associated with a break in the ground circuit or a short.
If the wiring tests good, temporarily swap the left and right draft pin connections (if cable length permits) to see if the code changes to the left side (Code 1031). If the code follows the pin, the sensor is internally failed.
Repair steps
Power down tractor
Power down the tractor and turn off the battery disconnect switch to protect the Hitch Controller.
Disconnect wiring harness
Disconnect the wiring harness from the faulty right draft pin sensor.
Support draft link
Support the right lower draft link to remove tension from the pin.
Remove retaining hardware
Remove the retaining bolt/hardware securing the right draft pin to the hitch casting.
Remove faulty pin
Slide the faulty draft pin out of the linkage.
Install new pin
Clean the bore and install the new draft sensor pin. Secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reconnect wiring
Reconnect the wiring harness connector.
Calibrate hitch
Power on the tractor, clear the stored fault codes, and perform a rear hitch calibration via the cab display/armrest to ensure the Hitch Controller learns the new sensor's zero-load voltage.
