Case IH 1033 – Armrest Controller (ARM) or Hitch Controller (TMF / EDC): Slip set switch failure

The controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the slip limit control switch/potentiometer located on the tractor's armrest.

   Inspect the slip limit control switch/knob on the right-hand armrest console for physical damage or sticking.

   Access the wiring under the armrest panel and ensure the connectors to the slip set switch and the armrest controller are securely connected, undamaged, and pins are tightly fitted.

   Test the wiring harness between the slip limit switch and the armrest controller for open circuits, short-to-ground, or short-to-power conditions.

   Verify that the armrest controller is properly communicating with the rest of the tractor's network via the CAN data bus.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the necessary blanking panels, instruction covers, or retaining screws (e.g., M4 x 12 screws) on the right-hand armrest console to access the underside of the control switches.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty slip limit control switch/potentiometer.

   Harness Repair (If Applicable)

   If diagnostic testing revealed a wiring fault, repair or replace the damaged section of the armrest monitor harness.

   Component Replacement

   If the switch itself has failed, remove the retaining nut (typically a 3/8-32 nut) holding the potentiometer/switch in place. Pull the old switch out of the console.

   Installation

   Insert the new slip limit control switch, secure it with the retaining nut, and reattach the control knob.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the wiring harness tightly and reinstall the armrest console covers.

   Clear and Test

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the tractor's diagnostic display or an Electronic Service Tool to clear the inactive fault code. Test the slip limit function to ensure the code does not return.
