Case IH 1034 – Hitch Control Module / Armrest Controller (ARU): Slip enable switch failure

The controller is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing signal from the slip enable switch over the tractor's Controller Area Network (CAN) bus.

   Cycle the key to check for active vs. inactive codes; if the fault is inactive, it may have been a temporary CAN bus communication glitch

   Physically inspect the Slip Enable switch on the armrest console to see if the button is stuck, damaged, or failing to click into position

   Check the wiring harness and connectors beneath the armrest console, ensuring connections to the switch and Armrest Controller (ARU) are fully seated, undamaged, and have tight pins

   Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals when toggled to verify internal switch failure

   Use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to monitor CAN bus data and verify if the ARU is successfully broadcasting the switch state to the Hitch controller

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Armrest Console

   Carefully remove the retaining screws or trim panels on the right-hand armrest console to access the underside of the control switches.

   Disconnect the Switch

   Locate the Slip Enable switch. Depress the locking tab on the electrical connector and pull it free from the switch.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Squeeze the retaining clips on the sides of the switch body (or remove the mounting screws, depending on the exact console revision) and push the switch up and out of the armrest bezel.

   Install the New Switch

   Snap the replacement Slip Enable switch into the console bezel until it clicks securely into place.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the switch, ensuring the locking tab engages.

   Reassemble

   Reinstall the armrest trim panels and secure all screws. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key to the ON position. Use the Case IH EST (Electronic Service Tool) or the tractor's diagnostic display to clear the inactive 1034 fault code. Test the slip enable function to ensure proper operation.
