Case IH 1044-05 - UCM – ABS Module / Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU): Electro-hydraulic backup pump current low

Issue description

The system has detected an open circuit or abnormally low current draw in the electro-hydraulic backup pump motor circuit.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a Hydraulic Control Unit Circuit Test

  2. Check for a bad connection at the hydraulic pump motor

  3. Check for a defective motor driver

  4. Check for a defective motor

  5. Check for a defective ABS module

Repair steps

  1. Proceed to the Hydraulic Control Unit Circuit Test

    Isolate the electrical fault.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the hydraulic pump motor

    Check for open circuits, corrosion, or poor pin fitment.

  3. Test the motor and motor driver

    Test for proper operation and current draw.

  4. Repair or replace defective components

    Repair or replace any defective wiring, the backup pump motor, or the ABS module as indicated by the circuit test.

  5. Clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

    Clear the DTCs from the system.

  6. Cycle the system

    If the DTC returns, re-evaluate the ABS module and Hydraulic Control Unit.
