Case IH 1050 – Armrest Controller (ARU): Aux 3rd remote valve Timer Switch is failed in the Armrest Controller or not available from Armrest due to bad Configuration
Issue description
The controller is detecting an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short, or out-of-range voltage) from the timer switch potentiometer/button used to set the time duration for the 3rd hydraulic cylinder to extend or retract, or there is a software configuration mismatch.

Check the cause
Verify Configuration: Access the Pro 700 / AFS display or instrument cluster menu to ensure the 3rd remote valve is properly configured, enabled, and calibrated (addresses bad configuration cause).
Check for Cascading Faults: Look for related codes that might cause a false flag, such as AUX 8011/8012 (Battery Voltage too Low/High) or AUX 12011/12041 (Lost communication with the armrest/instrument controller).
Inspect Wiring: Remove the armrest console cover and inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the 3rd remote timer switch for loose pins, corrosion, or pinched wires.
Test the Switch: Test the switch/potentiometer for proper resistance and voltage sweep. If it fails high or low outside the expected voltage range, the switch is internally defective.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws on the armrest control console cover to access the internal switches and wiring harness.
Locate and Disconnect
Locate the 3rd remote valve timer switch assembly. Disconnect its electrical connector.
Replace the Component
If the switch tested faulty, remove the retaining clips/screws holding the switch in the armrest bezel and install the replacement timer switch. (Note: On some newer Magnum/Steiger models, individual switches are integrated into a larger Multi-Function Handle or Armrest Control Module board and cannot be replaced individually without replacing the module).
Reassemble
Reconnect the wiring harness, ensure wires are not pinched, and reinstall the armrest console cover.
Reconnect Power
Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Use the diagnostic menu or Pro 700 display to clear the inactive fault codes. Recalibrate the remote valve timer settings (typically by depressing the timer switch until the light flashes, moving the control lever to set the time, and releasing).
