Case IH 1056-18 - ITBV – ITBV: Trailer Brake Control Line Pressure Disagreement
Issue description
The fault indicates a plausibility error within the Intelligent Trailer Brake Valve (ITBV) system. The system detects a mismatch between the expected (commanded) pressure and the actual pressure measured on the trailer brake control line.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- MAGNUM AFS Connect
- Magnum 180
- Magnum 200
- Magnum 220
- Magnum 240
- Magnum 250
- Magnum 280
- Magnum 310

Check the cause
Perform a pressure plausibility check by verifying the actual pressure on the control line versus the supply pressure to confirm if it is genuinely low or if a sensor is failing.
Check the Inlet Valve (IV) and Outlet Valve (OV) on the ITBV for electrical faults, including short to power, short to ground, low current, or high current.
Check the TCV pressure sensor supply voltage for a short to power or short to ground.
Verify the service brake pedal switch circuit and sensor voltage, as an invalid output can trigger pressure controller plausibility faults.
Repair steps
Inspect hydraulic hoses and tubes
Inspect the physical hydraulic hoses and tubes running from the ITBV to the brake valves for leaks or blockages that would cause a low-pressure condition.
Test ITBV solenoid valves
Test the ITBV solenoid valves (Inlet and Outlet). If an internal short or open circuit is found, the valve or solenoid must be replaced.
Verify tractor software
Verify the tractor's software. Ensure the module is flashed to at least software version 1.3.0.0.
