1065 - 02 - CSM

Case IH 1065 - 02 - CSM – CSM (Cab Suspension Module): Cab suspension controller - cab suspension controller communication error

Issue description

The tractor's main controller network (CAN bus) has lost communication with the Cab Suspension Module, or the module is failing to broadcast/receive its expected data packets.

Applies to these machines

  • MAGNUM AFS Connect
  • Case IH AFS Connect Magnum Tractors
  • Case IH Puma Series
  • Case IH Steiger Series

Check the cause

  1. Check the fuses and relays that supply power to the Cab Suspension Module (CSM) to ensure it has not dropped offline due to power loss.

  2. Visually inspect the physical wiring harness connecting to the CSM for signs of chafing, corrosion, or disconnected/pushed-out pins.

  3. Test the CAN bus communication lines (CAN High and CAN Low) at the CSM connector for proper voltage and terminating resistance (typically 60 ohms across the network).

  4. Verify if the CSM software version (e.g., version 1.0.0.0) is corrupted or requires an update via the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during module handling.

  2. Access the Module

Locate the Cab Suspension Module (CSM) on the tractor (typically mounted under the cab floor or within the cab's main electronics compartment).

  3. Inspect and Clean

Disconnect the CSM harness. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and inspect for moisture intrusion or bent pins. Reconnect to see if a loose connection was the culprit.

  4. Wiring Repair

If the CAN lines or power/ground wires test faulty, repair the wiring harness as per OEM specifications.

  5. Module Replacement

If the wiring tests good (proper power, ground, and CAN continuity) but communication cannot be established, the Cab Suspension Module has internally failed and must be replaced.

  6. Reprogramming/Calibration

Install the new CSM and reconnect the battery. You must use the Case IH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to flash the correct software to the new module and perform the automated cab suspension calibration procedure.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Cab Suspension Module (CSM) / Software Part

    51669963

Software/Module reference for AFS Connect Magnum. Module programming is required upon installation.

  • Cab Suspension Kit

    82036344

Generic CNH Fitment. Module programming is required upon installation. Ensure the software version matches the tractor's current Armrest Control Module (ACM) and Body Control Module (BCM) architecture.
