1067

Case IH 1067 – ATC (Advanced Tractor Control) / EDC (Electronic Draft Control): The specified tractor has draft control but no draft pin(s) were detected

Issue description

The tractor's electronic system is programmed to operate with Electronic Draft Control (EDC), but the controller is failing to receive a signal from the draft sensing pins. On 4WD tractors, this is a software configuration error, not a physical sensor failure.

Applies to these machines

  • Magnum
  • Steiger T4B
  • Magnum 215
  • Magnum 235
  • Magnum 245
  • Magnum 250
  • Magnum 255
  • Magnum 275
  • Magnum 280
  • Magnum 290
  • Magnum 305
  • Magnum 310
  • Magnum 335
  • Magnum 340
  • MX series
  • MX180
  • MX275

Check the cause

  1. Verify tractor configuration (4WD models): Check if the machine is a 4WD model. If so, this is a software configuration error, not a physical sensor failure.

  2. Inspect wiring and connectors (2WD/MFWD models): Check the wiring harness between the draft pin sensor and the ECU for damage.

  3. Check pin fitment (2WD/MFWD models): Ensure the connectors are fully seated, not damaged, and that the pins are in the correct position with a tight fit.

  4. Perform continuity test (2WD/MFWD models): Check for continuity in the wiring circuit to rule out an open circuit or a short-to-ground in the harness.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Scenario A: 4WD Tractors (Configuration Error) - Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) or access the tractor's advanced display monitor.

  2. Update configuration

Navigate to the tractor configuration/setup menus and update the configuration to indicate that the tractor is not equipped with draft control/draft pins.

  3. Verify repair

Save the configuration, cycle the key, and verify the fault code clears.

  4. Inspect connector

Scenario B: 2WD/MFWD Tractors (Sensor/Circuit Failure) - Disconnect the draft pin sensor connector and inspect for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back pins. Repair the connector or harness if damage is found.

  5. Remove defective sensor

If the wiring has continuity and the connector is in good condition, the draft pin sensor itself has failed internally. Support the hitch components as necessary and remove the defective draft pin sensor from the linkage.

  6. Install replacement sensor

Install the replacement draft pin sensor and reconnect the wiring harness.

  7. Calibrate system

Clear the fault codes and perform a hitch/EDC calibration to ensure the new sensor is recognized and operating within the correct voltage range.
